No one knows for sure if industrial development is shortening or extending our time on earth. Either way time is limited and there is certainly no need to sweat it because that won't help either. At any moment a meteorite, a new volcanic age or the simple spread of a virus could wipe out human kind. The fear mongers just want government funding for their pals by pushing panic buttons.
