One 14 pound Guatemalan Ranch Canary will feed seven. The meat is like a cross between trout and venison. The Ranch canary is a flightless bird, related to the road runner. It is a hazard in that country due to its habit of passing cars on the highway. It is almost impossible to catch as it is too fast, and a shot that low is likely to be dangerous. But it often ends up on the dinner table from head on collisions. For this reason automotive grills are usually #4 gauge expanded metal. Generally the bird is left on the grill until the destination is reached as by that time it is fricasseed by the radiator and ready to eat.
