Dems' Attacks on Bush Backfire Again

Picture Senate plurality leader Tom Daschle and his ilk pitching foot-stomping, hat-trampling hissy fits worthy of Yosemite Sam: The Democrats' attacks on President Bush have backfired once again.

In an item headlined "Be Careful What You Wish For," United Press International reported today: "The Democrats thought they had found the silver bullet with which to pierce President Bush's armor-plated approval ratings when they learned that a Bush photo taken aboard Air Force One on Sept. 11 was being offered as a premium in a National Republican Senatorial Committee direct-mail fundraising letter."

The pro-Democrat TV networks and big-city newspapers made sure the trivia "drove the news cycle for at least a day," but the whining did not sway voters. Neither did all that recent made-for-camera outrage by congressional Dems trying to blame the president for Sept. 11, which quickly abated when it became clear the people weren't being fooled.

"The president's job approval numbers were seemingly unaffected by the complaints and, as the committee is now reporting, the package has raised close to $1.5 million for the GOP, nearly 10 times what the Republicans say they expected to raise from the piece," says UPI.
