LOL Fame is fleeting.
I've been on TV several times (never credited, always as a result of pure chance), I've been published in several newspaper letters to the editor, I've been quoted on the net, in industry trade mags, etc.
It never sticks. Perhaps because I don't do what is required to make it stick. I'm not comfortable having a light shined upon me.

I agree with what you wrote about conveying ideas. I studied Winston Churchill in college. There was a man to admire when it came to conveying thoughts!
I took one of his comments, distilled it, and never varied from it:
Basically, he said "Keep it simple". His actual comment was something along the lines that it takes 5 minutes to write a 3 hour speech and 3 hours to write a minute speech. Simplifying is difficult, but very beneficial.
