I've read a few reports on how ML, GS and JPM were working the QQQ futures short and pushing very hard. I posted one of the notes on HTP the other day. To me this is very typical of their style. Put out a buy recommendation, wait a few weeks and then try to hammer the market in the opposite direction of their reco.

Of course it's all very legal, above board, and they can justify their actions with additional spin if they are ever called on it....

Keep in mind that this is nothing new. I want to make sure that I'm not coming across with sour grapes as we all know this is just one part of playing the market.

More from Briefing.com: 10:04AM Nasdaq Composite Intraday : -- Technical -- Index has extended breakdown in the wake of the sharp slump in semi (SOX -2.7%). Testing initial support (1570) again and without a sustained move back above 1580/1583, the index is expected to remain vulnerable. Next minor supports are at 1566/1564 and 1555 in front of the recent low of 1548. The lack of a more impressive bounce over the last few days raises the probability that the latter will be taken out. Such a move would expose the 1530/1528 area.

9:02AM Centillium: Japan biz continues to reaccelerate-- Solly (CTLM) 6.80: Salomon Smith Barney says that checks suggest that CTLM's biz in Japan (about 90% of revs) continues to reaccelerate, and that visibility in North America has improved and should be additive in Q3.
