if 100 million chinese can each suddenly afford $500 computers (who can't afford them now), gold will be over 1000 or some ridiculous amount and i will be on my own island so it won't matter how many they buy at that point, let them eat silicon. you may need to reduce your indian headcount estimate too if you ask me and musharaff

<<How about 100 million Chinese buying $500 computers? >>

Ah yes the 5 billion Chinese argument. I thought this died 5 years ago. This didn't work for friggin' Coke, and its gonna work for $500 PCs?

On a non-flippant note, 100mm Chinese buying $500 computers is $50 billion. I assume that is cumulative, not annual. Dell has a $31 billion worldwide PC business. So what difference is an extra $5 billion or so of sub-10% gross margin revenue from China going to make?

Cheers

Maybe we should have Zale's and Tiffany's move to China. After all, if you're supposed to spend two months salary on an engagement ring and with all those Chinese, Tiffany's will be rich in no time.

Believe India and other countries have fairly stiff customs and sales taxes to discourage buying foreign goods. That $ 500 pc will be $ 750. Good luck. They're mostly interested in transfer of production technology when they set up foreign factories.
