While overclocking has always been a concern for Intel, it has never affected more than a small volume of the overall market, even in the days of the Celeron 300A. I doubt that the 1.6A has changed things this drastically, though maybe it was a factor. My guess is that the current environment abhors the price differential between Intel's high end and low end offerings. Intel might have thought that market demand was improving enough to raise ASPs, but it looks like they will have to wait a bit longer.

One thing's for sure, though. If Intel lowers the prices of their high end lines, it will surely hurt AMD a lot more than it has already.
