More OT on the empty stadiums.

It is rather fishy. Particularly interesting is that only 4 nations sold out their ticket allotments: USA, Ireland, England, and China. The main thing that the first 3 have in common is a language. Note further that the official ticket agency is located in England.

I don't know anything else about this controversy, but I bet non-English speaking football fans had a difficult time getting tickets. I just cannot fathom German or Brazilian fans not taking every available seat.

Tench: I will bet that the tickets were sold before 9/11. The empty seats are probably attributable in large part to fear of terrorism.JFD
