libby.. i found that article to be extremely disconcerting... i don't know if you saw the recent law passed in italy where parents are "responsible" for their adult children....i believe it was until age 25 or something like that... both of my adult children are "successful" financially and professionally...we certainly helped them along the way...paid for college etc...but when it came to management of personal finances....any "help" came as the form of loans...and yes they were repaid. i think having done that....giving them the responsibility along with the freedom, established for them an accurate view of behavior v. consequences. <grub>
