Wasn't it the Ramones who created the song "Maria Barteruomo"?

What is the connection of the Suicide and stocks?

I wonder.

Hi Dave -- one more thing about overpriced stocks --

The way things worked in the 1970s is that overvalued stocks did not drop down to their proper valuations (or as it turned out in the late 1970s, undervaluations).

What happened is that stocks treaded water for 8 years, during which time their revenues and earnings grew -- which caused their PE to eventually drop to decent levels.

The bubble -- I still assert that the bubble only affected a portion of our economy (like 20%). In the 1920s and 1960s, stock speculation affected a much broader segment of the economy -- and therefore the fallout was more severe.

Gotta go !
