Attempting to find a reason behind a French decision is equal to figuring out ....

What does a woman want ? (well, ok, not as bad) -lol

I agree with the referee's performance, so far has been quite good if perhaps a little strict, (but not out of line). I believe that strictness (along the financial fines), is the reason why we have not seen any antics and/or over aggressive playing.

Now.... Argentina v England....

I guess we are on opposite ends as I would love to see Argentina beat them in a decisive manner to clear any doubts over prior victories -g.

However, I would NOT like to see any antics by either team as it would spell disaster for whoever does them given the quality of referees we have seen, (hence the game would be a waste --and I am getting up early to watch it !!)

I truly hope this will be a game to remember and may the best team win.

Having seen the quality of the soccer played in this tournament, (by most all participants), I believe that from now on, the World Cup will truly be a WORLD championship.

Re: Uruguay... They have played like that forever... at least I remember them that way since I watched them when I was a kid... very tough defense, and rarely score, but once they do... you are dead... hard to overcome such advantage against Uruguay. Frankly I do not understand it since I know they have very talented players... seems to me they are just stubborn. (maybe they have a little too much French in them -gg)

George,

Nothing would give me greater pleasure (well actually many things would but you know what I mean) than for Argentina to lose 2 or 3 nil (oh please god) with half their team sent off but I have to admit that form and circumstance doesn't make this happy event likely. Still this WC has not been short on surprises.

I have a feeling it will be a hard fought draw.

I wasn't impressed with the French in 1998, so I'm not surprised they are stumbling here.

Interesting stat shown during the game today: After winning the Cup in 1966, England did not beat a South American team until 1998!
