-BMW Re:'*Half* of the settlement was included in Q1. The other half is definitely this quarter.'

You prompted me to look this up, see the Intel Press release below. About half the cash settlement, $150 million, was taken as a one time charge in Q1. Reading between the lines the rest was for the purchase of patents and will be amortized over the remaining life of the patents.

The patents purchased are not identifed but the life is probably in the range of 7 to 10 years. The amortization share for Q2 is mice nuts.

*Half* of the settlement was included in Q1. The other half is definitely this quarter.

Nope, it's more goodwill. From Intel's most-recent 10-Q: "The remaining balance of $145 million represents the value of intellectual property assets as of March 30, 2002 and will be amortized over their remaining useful lives."

If you like a big dog making $0.12/share/Q, may I recommend ORCL instead at about $8?
