Yes the shortfall was in desktops, but Intel explained it was actually a consumer shortfall rather than a business shortfall. He actually used the words "No sign of a recovery" for the consumer market, Looks like double dip is here.

Intel also said that the seemingly good results a few weeks back for Q1 was in part due to increase in inventories rather than end sales. He didn't specify whether that comment applied to server/desktops/consumer.

If the double dip has now reached the stage where the blind bulls can't dispute it any more then you can expect a weak consumer to drop this market severely.

If consumers aren't buying then business isn't selling. If business isn't selling then it isn't in a position to spend - so servers will suffer.
