Don't know about the oil, but I expect oil to be obsolete within the same 10-20 year time frame. I think in 20 years our homes and our vehicles will be powered by molecularly engineered hydrogen or some other environmentally benign element.

This is the real source of the current turmoil. The traditional sources of economic power are being re-configured. Gold and oil will soon be obsolete. Manufacturing plants now have to be retooled so quickly that it's hard to make money that way. Only land will retain its value, and if the "powers that be" cause enough economic chaos at this time they can effect a land grab at the end of it all.

The new sources of wealth are intellect, creativity, and personal industry. The boom and bust were an attempt to devalue the new wealth, but in the long run it can not succeed because the old base is crumbling.

Pardon the repetition for those of you who have heard this sermon before :)

Peace,
Paula
