"Presumably they're going to use those PCs for something -- likely to access the Internet. Thus, bandwidth and content servers will be in increasing demand"

People are going to use those PCs to replace other PCs with broken down powers supplies, monitors, hard disks etc.

The driver for growth in internet servers is bandwidth, not PCs. With the high debt and bankruptcy risk in telco land, broadband is not going to grow as fast as some would assume. Plus I suspect ISPs will have to put their prices up as the home internet user is currently subsidised by money that shareholders lost long ago and lines of credit that banks may never see repaid. That money has begun to run out.

When broadband is priced above its cost of provision (well over $200/mth) then subscribers will go back to using 56k modems.
