n'est pas "aûot" mais "vacances."

That was clever.

(Notice that I didn't respond in French. <g>)

I noticed it, you silly. I almost said that the word for August in the manual for shrinks is also vacances. I know this not only because there are lots of jokes to that effect, but because we used to go to Wellfleet for a week or two every summer to stay at a friend's house, and the beaches and pond's were inhabited almost entirely by shrinks, it was slightly eerie, and the same was true a couple of years ago when we shared a house on Martha's Vineyard with somebody for a week in August. Shrinks all over.

But I wanted to say it in French, and got fatigued before I got to it.

But there is this fun thing to do with the translators. I think I'll do it now that i'm in the mood. Translating a selected text from one language to another. And then another, etc.

BTW, I'm reading Naipaul's Half a Life. It is wonderful. Like all his work.

And I just read WG Sebald's The Rings of Saturn, also wonderful, in a different way. (Well, in a different way from anything.)

The Naipaul I"m really listening to. The Sebald, I read.

You would like them both.
