I agree. Many people do get personally invested. But it makes it problematic for those people who do not.

Calling people, whole people, names for ideas they espouse or ways they argue, that seems silly to me.
Now if you KNOW the whole person, and it is important to call them names, I guess one could do that. But why? What is served by the name calling process, other than a vent for anger. Angry people working off steam. I try to ignore the totally angry people who never say anything that isn't steam release.
