I don't understand how you can present an argument like this and still claim the right of the people to keep and bear arms means the right of the state to raise a militia. You are talking with two tongues, my friend. Not good.

"how could that ever happen?" Well, it happens in stages, and usually involves fear leading to loss of freedoms and eventual justification/rationalization of such abuses. I hear more and more people say that the loss of freedom is the price of safety. But, isn't our system based on certain ABSOLUTE rights that cannot 'depend on the historical context'? Isn't the loss of those absolute, inalienable rights in fact an explicit violation of the Constitution?
