A lot of India's aviation program as well as space and missile programs are aided by the then USSR and today's Russia. India's nuclear projects were aided initially by the US in its "atoms for peace" program and later by the USSR/Russia.

The bulk of Indian Air Force is composed of aging MiG-21s, which can also be described as "flying coffins". India has tinkered a little bit here and there to produce maybe a half dozen variants but that is a little like adding a few ornamental handles to the coffin.
