Let he who is with out sin, cast ... is from the apocrypha or unattested chapters, according to the Catholic church. Why do they say these chapters are disputable? Because the church, who wanted to mete out punishment felt that teachings like these would not allow them to pro(per)secute their enemies. So they made a "scholarly" decision of the authenticity 600 years after the fact.

Similar decisions in order the better to throw fear into the people were made concering the alleged writings and sayings of Mohammed vis a vis the Koran and the Hadith. The Hadith conversely, which contains Sharia, was written after Mohammed's death, to keep the flock in line.
