Those were the good old days! BTW, for the best book ever done on defending the Fulda Gap, read "Team Yankee," by Harry Coyle. >>>A realistic depiction of World War III combat follows Captain Sean Bannion and the tank soldiers of Team Yankee as they battle the Russian invasion force, from Hill 214 in West Germany to the ultimate cease-fire<<< I go back and reread it about once every 3 years.

Speaking of WWIII, I came across some interesting documents released by Chechoslovakia I believe. They were Warsaw Pact contingency planning for invasion of Western Europe in the event of hostilities. Pretty frightening stuff. Southern France by day 7, I believe it was. I remember being horrified, because the document revealed, to me at least, the disconnect between NATO and Warsaw on what was believed to be "of course" doctrine. Silly things like "strategic pauses" and "limited conflict." The Warsaw Pact didn't seem to concerned about environmental damage from liberal useage of nuclear weapons.... "Use it or Lose it" seemed to be the theme.

I think things could have truly been nightmarish.
