Italy played their typical lazy style and took the lead. Under normal circumstances that should have been enough for the victory. But a 3 minute mental lapse and TWO disallowed goals cost them bigtime. Both goals were GOOD. You have to wonder where they picked up that side ref.

I have to say that was the first goofed set of calls by the reff...

This has left group G open again to Croatia who has come back from the dead. Poor Ecuador faces a couple of hard matches as both Mexico's and Croatia's chances of qualifying much depend on a multiple goal victory over the South Americans, obviously a must-win for both teams at the very least. (Mexico and Croatia)

As fo the goals....

I think the referee and the linesman were drinking some of that bottle of yours before the game -gg

At worst (for Italy), this should have been a draw, and with a a better referee, a victory for Italy

Then again, in a way they created the problem by laying back after only one goal. This is what I was referring to as a bad idea for England to retrench after only one goal advantage, for England it worked, for Italy it backfired, on top of the bad calls.

Mexico needs to win by 2 or even 3 goals against Ecuador, (same for Croatia) and at least a tie with Italy to go forward, assuming "logic" prevails as I do not see Ecuador beating neither the Mexicans nor the Croats.

The Italians are going to go all out for blood against Mexico, which may be a great game. In the end, we the spectators benefit from all these crazy results. -g
