In your training for the United States Army and the United States Air Force were you trained to target innocent civilians? Were you trained by religious nut cases to strap a bomb on yourself and go out and murder as many innocent people as possible? Were you trained to put a gun up to a baby's head and pull the trigger?

Thread Alert I think I have connected all of the dots, the most recent obvious dot being State Department Special enjoy Richard Armitage’s message today about a possible near term major reduction in tensions between Pakistan and India. I think the President is going to announce a huge new worldwide peace initiative next week. I strongly believe that he wants Chairman Arafat to lead the entire world to peace by announcing a cease fire before he announces his initiative. IMO, this is why he has been pushing so hard for strong leadership from Palestine, because the leadership must be strong enough to lead the entire world, including the United States. I believe that King Abdullah, Crown Prince Abdullah and President Mubarak have all personally indicated to the President that Chairman Arafat has the strength to accomplish this. If I could advise Chairman Arafat, my advice would be that he should gather the appropriate leaders of the Palestinian legislature, Al-Aqsa, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Hezbollah etc., and call a major worldwide press conference for early next week, and with all leaders in attendance, announce a cease fire. If I were making the announcement I would say something like this, although I don’t know if it would be sufficient to fully honor the Martyr’s; “WE believe it is now time to stop fighting, so WE are announcing a unilateral cease fire. WE demand that Israel remove all troops from the territory of the Palestinian Authority.” After this is done, I think the President will announce his peace initiative. IMO, the sequence of events is very important to the President, and very important to the history of the world. I deeply hope that as a future International Statesman, Chairman Arafat is thinking of this. I would even personally beg the Chairman to do this if I thought it would help. It is my opinion, and my deep hope, that Chairman Arafat and the leadership of Palestine should seize this opportunity, and trust the President, so the President may have an opportunity to return the trust.
