Sure it does. Now we know how people in other states, oft-ignored for electoral advantage elsewhere, feel. Californians aren't used to it because California was considered an imperative for victory for decades. (BTW, it did not hurt to have a Californian on the ballot for national office in 1948, 1952, 1956, 1960, 1968, 1972, 1980, and 1984.)

Rather like the California property bust of the early '90's after decades of immunity, it is a reminder that nothing lasts forever.
