Whistling ducks ... interesting. Now I know why Aflac went with the Standard White Duck ... with a whistling Teal, they would've had to change their name to Aflistle.

Another bird change I've noticed in visiting my family in South Texas is that I often awaken to the screeching of a flock of wild Parrots hanging out in the old cottonwood tree. And also there is now the occasional sighting of the Mexican Chachalaca in a residential area. It's long been a protected species in the nearby Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge located on the Rio Grande River.

Last week's pair of wild ducks sitting on a power line was one of the most unusual bird sightings I've had. When they took flight, they looked every bit like ordinary wild ducks.
