Re: Very interesting. Those guys don't usually talk like that in public.

Yup, definitely "off the reservation" behavior. What disappointed me was that his comments were simple political frustration.

He would have been doing the country a much bigger service if he were to have covered the much bigger and uglier truth about how the Air Force stood down on Sept. 11. Now that is something that, if it ever gets the media coverage it deserves, will blow the covers off the White House cover-up of who knew what and when.

I'm reading James Bamford's "Body of Secrets" right now. It was written prior to 9/11. What is interesting, among many details, is just how well the NSA (formerly "No Such Agency") knew about Osama Bin Laden's operations. The Agency was so cocky that they would even play tapes for specific guest observers of Osama's conversations from Afghanistan with his mother over the Inmarsat phone that he was provided with by parties unspecified.

Of further interest, al Queda is purportedly using encrypted transmissions between operatives and handlers. You really have to wonder who is in the loop on providing such sophisticated cryptological technology to a cadre of messianic fundamentalists. Perhaps those who want to read over someone's shoulder mounted RPGs? Perhaps those who were fully apprised of the status of four "cells" on Sept. 10?
