obviously without
success,

What makes you say that?

My only excuse is that I said IME, not IMO.

My knowledge of social workers is limited to those I have met (and those I have seen on screen, who are generally not kindly portrayed).

I wish I had met some good ones.

I will say that I've met some very good guardian ad litems and custody evaluators. Some excellent ones.

In this state, though, DSHS is so screwed up that I doubt anybody competent and caring would be willing or able to work for them for long. Don't forget, we're the state that had the Wenatchee case, not to mention a number of other high profile screw-ups by DSHS. They had to pay out a huge verdict in one case -- I believe I read that it was the largest verdict ever assessed against a state child welfare agency anywhere in the country.

So I admit to being jaded by a bad exerience with the social workers I have known.

But I was wrong to extend that to all of them.

And yes, you did succeed in making me feel badly.
