Egypt's President Mubarak defended Chairman Arafat to President Bush today at Camp David.

Mubarak is playing keep up with the Jones -- in this case, the Prince Abdullahs. Abdullah provided a peace plan, so Mubarak must hasten to provide a peace plan too. Mustn't let SA steal Egypt's limelight -- Egypt is No. 1 in the Arab world. You will never understand what's going on if you keep taking the public pronouncements of Arab diplomats at face value. Mubarak has no illusions about Arafat. Mubarak has also called Arafat a dog in public.

Mubarak on Arafat : " Give this man a chance!"

What else have we all been doing in the last seven years ?
He has outsmarted what, four Israelis PM, five ?

So the only plan I can think of is that he was only trying to take his best pick at who will be the one he wants to deal with. Peres should be the first one on his new list, call him the easiest one. But Peres has no chance left.

So, what is Arafat waiting for ?
You tell me!
