WLAN is highly disruptive'

that is an understatement, but the losers won't be PCS et al, they'll be the likes of QCOM.

Sprint is an early investor in Boingo and Voicestream now owns Mobilestar (of starbux wifi infamy). According to the person I spoke to at Voicestream, they claim they will be turning on a "significant" wifi network in boston...by the end of the year. *this* year.

seems a bit aggressive to me, but i won't complain if it happens!

Crossy, as regards wireless...

My old dial-up ISP in Florida now goes out to sites (homes or businesses) to determine whether they can link to their wireless system, installs an antenna ($250) and charges $50/mo. They claim it is 100 to 200 times faster than cable; that's faster than a T-1 line. I was told there is pressure being applied by the FCC about the use of the frequencies that this ISP and dozens around the country are using, but so far, to no avail.

Could this be what you speak of?

TIA;
