FYI, Ray: The FBI and Ronald Reagan illegal covert activities at UC Berkeley in the 60's. After a 17 year legal battle on FOIA issues, the FBI finally gives it up under court order. sfgate.com

Another question:Why did the CIA issue a press release naming Mr. Spahnn as an operative, when its iron-clad policy has been to keep such names secret to protect their families? Especially since retaliation in the US of his father, wife and child would be the first concern? Could it be that they knew the level of risk, and that it wasn't high enough to warrant concern? If so, what does that say about their true knowledge of the terrorist cells in this country? What do they know about our level of risk that they are not telling the American people? If the level of true risk is such that they, say, know who, what and where, then the risk of an accidental terrorist act against Spahnn is very low. That's the good news. If they know these things and are not telling Americans, that's bad news. They can't have it both ways -- either they know, and released his name, or didn't know, and violated their policies and purposely exposed his family to extreme danger.
