I'm not sure I ever heard the song all the way through. Just on the radio occasionally. And from what I heard, it was pop, not folk.

Pete Seeger never sang it. Nor did the Clancy Brothers, Kingston Trio, Boc, Joan Collins, etc.

Cecil Sharp never collected it.

Guess you don't know what folk music is.

CM, you sure have a dirty mind if you think these lyrics were anything to CH except a fond remembrance of skating with a friend in the summer, when he posted the words "roller skate and key," just those words, to Poet (who had begged him over and over not to post anything to her, said "I have nothing for you. You are frightening me. Leave me alone" to him.)

Just... "roller skate and key." That's all he wrote in his post. That was the whole post: "roller skate and key."

You are so suspicious. Here are some lines excerpted from
"Roller skate and key":

I'm okay alone, but you got something I need

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and try them out you see
I been looking around awhile
You got something for me....

...I've been all around the world...

...You got something for me...

...you've got something I need...

And here is the context:

And of course, now that the period of his profound apology has dimmed in some memories, he will claim that this post was in all innocence, too:

Message 17422314

This was cute, too:

If you can get Poet to approve me disclosing information about our relationship which occurred during private exchanges, I will discuss them.

(Remember that after all the insinuations and references to "information about our relationship," and "private exchanges," when she gave the permission, he backed down?)

BTW, this was posted by CH to Poet on the same day as the words "roller skate and key":

Hi, Poet. I understand that you've been missing me.
Sorry, I've been kind of busy recently, and not able to post to you as often as you might like. But I will have some time free shortly, so will be able to resume our discussions...
