Hi Dave,

Re: The world is better off for our influence (hegemony, as you call it) and you know it. I can understand some resentment,

Perhaps I suffer from an acute ability to see both sides of the coin. There is no way in the world that the youth of the third world, with limited prospects can possibly see U.S. hegemony and its evil twin, commercial exploitation, as the best of all possible worlds for them. They know that the U.S., with 4% of the world's population consumes 25% of the world's resources. They're jealous, or at least envious of our phat lifestyles. Do they think that having American bankers continuously squeeze them financially is to their benefit? Hardly. They know that their lives would be better with a level playing field and fair trade with pirates that run America's multinationals. As would the bulk of American citizens who fail to realize that the seemingly never ending treadmill they are on, while the plutocratic CEO class get richer all the time, could actually have a better future without the present scheming regime.
