I read an excellent article in the Economist a few weeks ago about this very topic and the shenanigans in Brazil, my brother (Sao Paulo resident) tells me the same thing about them....That is why you get a team like Ecuador, two average teams like the Guayanas and Argentina with a first class ticket reserved to Buenos Aires (they never fly coach, it is beneath them<g>) and a Brazil with six losses in the qualifying stage...yeah, they are still standing, thanks to that ref with the penalty against Turkey.... So, this WC is wide open IMHO. The only thing certain is the suprises ahead (kind of like predicting the Dow or NASDAQ <g>). I watched the Japan game. I am impressed by these guys, they play a very exciting game. I really liked them in 98 despite the three losses and told the thread to watch out in 02...we are seeing them now with more experience and better fine tuning reminding me those glorious Dutch teams of the 70s...the way football should be played out, ALL OUT, 90 minutes! Russians are still adjusting, a mediocre team that got lucky against the Tunisians, should have been scored on more today. We may see Mexico vs USA, that will be another classic! I am staying up to watch the US tonight of course! If we can hold them off at the back and neutralize their speed in the beginning, hold the ball a bit we 'll be fine. We score first on them........------> we 'll score at least three on them as they go all out to attack kamikazi style. USA will not be intimidated, not by these guys, go USA!
