After my post, I was reading the newspaper about the World Cup. The US plays South Korea today, and there is extra security. To protect against terrorists, you say? No, to protect against protesting South Koreans who want us to withdraw their troops. I will directly quote from a Mr Bon H. An, a Korean-American who lives in both Seoul and Miami:

"It's a love-hate relationship. On the one hand, Koreans feel eternal gratitude for US support during the Korean War, but we are not a colony anymore...These's a perception that the US is the big bully on the block and other countries like South Koreas are the little kids".
