Boy, you sure lost the thread of the discussion, didn't you? It doesn't matter what would happen, the issue is that the US is not perceived as the Good Ole Uncle Same global protector that we think we are. That would answer some of the 'why do they hate us?' post-Sept 11 questions.

Korea would decide for itself how to resolve the North/South split. Maybe they would reconcile, like Germany, maybe they would fight it out, like Vietnam. Eventually, they would take responsibility for themselves, and, IMHO, eventually decide that Democracy IS a good thing.
