We get to the crux of the Religious Right's current beef. Democracy, and America, are not dependent on the Christian churches. As this realization sinks in, their leaders realize how disasterous this situation is. No longer can they scam people on their TV and radio shows, as previous generations did in revival tents, to the tune of megabucks. You are losing your revenue stream as people wise up to the hypocracy of the religious right. Get used to the back seat.
