I think La Belle must have been voted on by men who hadn't seen a really good looking naked woman for a long while and this clouded their judgment of the film. I watched it in fast forward on the second reel and it STILL seemed to take forever. I rarely feel like nodding off in a movie, but this one could have put me in a coma if I'd watched it all on standard play. Shooting the past was marvelous. One of the truly outstanding Masterpiece Theatre episodes. But I just love Lindsay Duncan. And the rest of the cast was superb too. As was the story.
