Hi moe,

Re: I would certainly think that the international market for bauxite reserves would be competitive

I haven't a clue. I don't use the stuff myself, and all the aluminum smelters up here in the Pacific Northwest have been shuttered because of Enron's egregious chicanery. Lot's of lost jobs, lost economic trickling down, lost state budgets because of your Republican buddies with their ten gallon hats, thin ethics and fat wallets. You ought to ask Ken Lay about bauxite. I bet he'd get a good chuckle about a naif like you puttin' two and two together.

Re: Interesting how the word "fraud" is thrown around in so cavalier a manner.

Did I mention Gary Winnick, Dave Komansky, Dennis Koslowski and George Gilder? Or just the Crooked "E"'s bunch of criminal sociopaths?

Re: I think every American should sponsor a hungry child don't you?

I think women who can't afford children shouldn't have them. You're simplistically dealing with the symptom with sympathy. I prefer to deal with the cause with clarity.

Re: I need to do more international giving.

I'll send you my address. Many on this thread claim I'm from some other planet. And I could use the money, honey.

Re: I think indirectly I do through American Foreign Aid.

0.11% of the federal budget is devoted to foreign aid. Assuming you pay $10,000 a year in federal income tax, you are this year giving $11.00 to the third world. Don't you feel generous?

Re: I would definitely want some of my tax dollars to go to that cause.

I would conclude that $11.00 qualifies as "some".

Re: I would also like to see a large portion go towards defense, both here and abroad.

A good 50% of your income tax goes to the war rackets crowd. So, your contribution is $5,000 to the murder machine this year.

Think of it it this way, of your money the government has spent on Afghanistan over the last year, about $0.35 has gone to humanitarian aid, and $50.00 has gone to murdering them.
