Did others you talked to share this interpretation? Charley, I don't recall very well. I remember I was fairly new to Washington at the time and Clydes was a cool place to hang out. The first time I went there was with some folks from the office and I remember that group of maybe ten talking about how the song really came about and all being surprised. Other than that, I don't recall any conversations about it. It just seemed like something that everybody just "knew." << This is the original. It soon drew a crowd from all walks of life and Clyde's grew to become a local legend.
