Grace, I think it's even more than having to do a little work. An analyst also has to have talent, much like a musician or tennis player. I could work out on the tennis courts for 12 hours a day and I still couldn't play piano like Thelonius Monk. <G>

A lot of folks who don't know better are impressed with credentials. In the money biz, only one credential matters: did you make money?

I've told the story many times of the disaster that befell Penn's endowment when the Wharton Finance Dept. tried to invest it. And you don't get any better academic credentials than that. <G>

I agree! Many of my friends are analysts, they are about as smart as me, and that's scary for J6P!
