If you look back at my original post, I believe I said said something like setting the greenhouse effect aside, CO2 is toxic on a micro-environmental level. It certainly is a good thing you are not a doc, 'cuz your ideers would be laying folks out on cold slabs in the morgue.

Elevated levels of CO2 kill, period. I've watched patients begin to develop CO2 narcosis, I've revived people with CO2 narcosis, I have probably even contributed to CO2 narcosis by selecting too high a level of oxygen. I haven't seen a patient in narcosis for oh, about 4 days now. (In fact, I know docs who allow terminal patients to die by giving them enuf O2 to make them comfortable, but which also produces a terminal respiratory depression caused by the increasing levels of CO2; to make it really simple, when they die, they have high levels of oxygen, and even higher levels of CO2).
