Sometimes we have long and very respectful discussions Yes we do. At least your alter ego and I do. That guy is a mensch. He is thoughtful, upstanding, and says insightful things. I have my style which when I am very disciplined is just short of sarcastic b&%#ard. I work very hard at disciplining myself to keep it short of that. Some people might even say I go over that line but I do not believe I have been. I am ready to defend myself in that regard. Then there's this other guy. His ideas look to me like a snarl of spaghetti. They're just impenetrable. And when I try to penetrate them, the character you refer to as the "sarcastic b shows up. What a piece of work he is. My pet label for him is not "sarcastic b" but "insufferable twit." There's just no having a constructive discussion with him. And you talk about "irk." I will watch out for the favoritism denial that so irks you if you will reevaluate that line that your sarcastic b is so prepared to defend.
