The CO2 debate is funny.

If there is excess CO2 causing global warming, and I think it is safe to conclude that it has, there is damned little that can be done about it. It has been building up since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution.

I know of no technology, except photosynthesis, that will rid the planet of excess CO2. Period.

It takes decades, perhaps as long as a century, for photosynthesis to do its thing.

I'm sure this is a substantial reason why the Administration's report suggested no changes in what we do.

I believe this started out when you said more CO2 is good and I said CO2 will kill, at least on the microenvironmental level. It is foolish to think atmospheric changes in CO2 would be individually toxic. Any changes would be so slow that adaptation of the organism would occur; not even evolution per se, but just thru changes in sensitivity of the various receptors to CO2,pH.

Howsomever, my point was that CO2 is a toxic gas. Since you seem to be skeptical, I may have a plan, whereby you can see for yers elf. Get in touch with either the physiology dept. at a nearby university, or preferably a med school (since you may find some students crazy enuf to say ok, ala "Flatliner"), or with the Respiratory Therapy Dept. at a hospital. Tell them that you are unconvinced of the power of CO2, and ask them to run an experiment on you, using carbogen (mix of CO2, O2). Have them film the whole thing, so you can see what happened after you don't remember anything. Make sure somebody stays with you to take the mask off. I 'm not sure you can find somebody willing, but if you want to come to my place some night, I'll grab a tank and we can go down to the lab; you'll have to bring yer own camcorder or whatever.
