The three companies can be considered the SAN "three peas in a pod," IMO. However I think Brocade is the best single choice, because it provides the most value add. QLogic is partnered with Cisco which is a good thing, but competes with Brocade in switches which is a bad thing. QLogic is also diversified into other technologies like SCSI. Emulex makes Fibre Channel host bus adapters (adapter cards) which I think risk commoditization over time, but just yet. For that to happen, I think the HBA's will have to be integrated onto the server motherboards, and I'm not up on who else has what chipset solutions.
