To: Rollcast... who wrote (32122 ) 6/11/2002 3:43:23 PM From: FaultLine Respond to of 281500 or did you ask johnm to help? Hi Rollcast, Why yes, I did. :o) And I asked you too! As I've written several times, I have no objection to any of the regular members of the thread engaging in a little self-policing. Enough time has passed that I think people generally understand where I'm "coming from" and so there shouldn't be any particular problem about doing this. After all, we're all friends here aren't we? If such circumstances should arise (which should be rare IMO), and if you should disagree with the advice you are receiving, politely say, "Thanks for your input on XYZ but I feel otherwise..." and move ahead. I'm sure there will be occasional differences of opinion over thread matters but I trust that we will not get pushy or over reactive about it. And, please always remember that when you choose to speak for "the thread" in my absence, well, I will be returning and we may talk. :o) Naturally, I expect the regular contributors to understand the thread operating parameters while certain people who simply drop in and raise a row will probably be deftly "managed" by the "the regulars". We have enough history now for everyone to have enough ownership for that to be effective. I hope everyone remains convinced that comments on thread mechanics by any of the regular participants are always given in a constructive spirit and not intended to be used as a club simply to shut down discussion. Really, when you think about it, by definition a "Regular" is someone who knows and plays by the thread House Rules. Someone who is having big problems probably ain't around any more anyway so I think the suggestions you folks hand around between yourselves are probably of a very minor nature and should be simple, normal efforts to facilitate the development of a better discussion environment. FYI, I do not like the hammering-into-submission style of so many SI discussions and I think we've been trying another route here with only occasional lapses... :o) That's my 2 cents, --ken/fl@thevalueofmywholeportfolio.pov
