It was ocean once before ... we're on a hill here, good drainage, downhill to everywhere from here, i dug a pond with a front-end loader in the late seventies, once down over a metre the subsoil was glacial till with seashells in it, i can still dig them from the hill i made out of that soil .... and the rock to which the pond had to conform, it is sandstone, once a beach, then turned to stone through the ages ..... little things like centuries and millennia don't mean much to the rocks
