Jerome,

Fow what its worth here is my take on the matter. It has been said that over a trillion dollars in American wealth has vaporized in the past two years. The American investor has been lied to by companies and brokerage firms alike. This being the case there is absolutely no reason why any investor sitting on the sidelines would feel inclined to jump back in. The lack of stock buyers is like a plague, and if you have read a bit of history you know that plagues take a long time to run their course.

It is actually along the lines of $3.5 Trillion vaporized to be exact and yes, I agree with your premise. Fear of market and economic uncertainty is being compounded this time around by fear/mistrust of corporate america/wall street. If I didn't believe so strongly in the companies I am investing in, I too would be sitting on the sidelines. But opportunities come at inopportune times, and wealth is created not when everyone is sipping champagne, but rather at times like this, when people step forward and place their bets when things appear scary.
