Questions abound, but some are: why not release tapes of control towers and flight recorders, why weren't F-16s scrambled, why were Saudi royals allowed to protect financial information on bin Laden and the terrorists, what was Bush Senior doing in the White House the morning of 9/11, why was Junior so calm when hearing of two WTC towers being rammed, why were 20 years' worth of pres. papers yanked from FOIA, how compromised is Senior in conflict of interest, why aren't the names of jailed suspected terrorists released, why was the "dirty bomb" suspect announced a month late, why is the administration so steadfast in avoiding investigations into intelligence failures, why hasn't anyone been fired but instead rewarded for these failures, why did Bush work 9 months in secret on a huge gov't reorg plan and not show enough leadership to roll out a national neighborhood watch program or other full-involved citizen-based effort... etc.

As far as the media being God - it's a lot closer to godliness than politicians, and it the only way this country will remain the USofA.
The media is admitted to being influenced by covert government dollars from DOD and intel, answerable to the Executive Branch.
To outlaw that kind of subversion of the democracy would do a tremendous amount to keep this country free and prosperous.

Clinton? Here we go with Clinton again. At some point he'll have to cease being the whipping boy.
Wrong - he talked to Tenet weekly in Security Council meetings. Crybaby Tenet just didn't get the one-on-one he wished.
Good thing he didn't -- you can see what happens when you give the CIA that kind of influence: immediate and long-lasting disaster.

Profiteering - it is already acknowledged the partnerships between Bush and the Saudis, Bush and Carlyle. Each of these benefits mightily from war, and protection of the enemy Saudis. That alone is sufficient for an impeachment trial.

Gore? Who's Gore? Is that someone in government, demanding funding and making war plans? Don't think I know anyone by that name doing those things...

e) Agreed - yes, stop this treasonous activity, the only crime defined in the Constitution, as "aid and comfort to THE ENEMY". How the hell do you define enemy, if it isn't the Saudis.

f) I can write all kinds of essays about all kinds of terrorist plots against the US and allies.
How many do you want? Are any of the true? Probably some. What proof do I have? As much as the government has, or is showing at any rate.
If this doesn't bother you, it must be because you have an abiding trust in the executive branch of our government. I used to.

As far as your scenario to make any administration do something - Project Northwoods is one example. There are many others, where the ends "justified" the means, the usual result of hubris. I can't speak to the previous administration, but this one, even by Republican accounts, feels it can hide and justify anything, within its power.

How limited is its power?
