Dan B.,

A few posts upstream, I copies a lambasting of 10 hypocrites in the GOP. In fairness to Republicans, here's a damn Dem on da make:

It’s Good to Be the King (6/4)
When Georgia authorities unveiled plans for a new 2,300-acre recreational lake and reservoir, no one was surprised that it had been placed in the western part of the state. That region is now suffering from a major drought. But a few eyebrows were raised by the fact that the plan sends two fingers of the lake into 50 acres owned by House Speaker Tom Murphy, creating a shoreline for him, two brothers-in-law, his children, and a cousin who is a federal judge. "Coincidence," say state officials. All told, Murphy and his relatives own more than 1,500 acres, currently worth about $1,000 per acre, near the proposed lake. But lakeside property on nearby Lake Harris in Alabama is worth $20,000 to $85,000. Strangely, Murphy doesn’t list the 50 acres on state financial disclosure reports, as required by law.

It's hard to get over the sensation that the terms politician and crook are going to be indistinguishable in another generation or two........

This reminds me of the rip-rap that Diane Feinstein had placed in front of summer cottage at Stinson Beach after a nasty storm. Seems that since the state did the job, no permits or EIS paperwork was need. No payment, neither.
