chojiro--Regarding the company buying its own shares at current levels, that is a strategy appropriate when expected growth is low, as in a mature market. Thus, as an example, Kodak would have been much better off buying its own shares, since it decided it didn't want to develop any manufacturing capability in digital photography components, such as flash memory, CCD, and display panels.

To my thinking, this is not the time for QCOM to consider buying its own shares. There are just too many growth opportunities worldwide. I don't consider either the wireless technology or the supporting wired broadband facilities to be anywhere near maturity, even in the U.S. Seems to me that QCOM is doing what it ought to be doing--generating cash and looking for good opportunities to spread the use of CDMA technology.
